As part of my ongoing series, ABC Sensory, we’ve been exploring a different sensory activity for each letter of the alphabet. And for today’s letter R sensory play, we’ll be making Rainbows with soap clouds and colored noodles! In this post I’ll show you exactly how easy it is to make. Directions
Start by making your rainbow pasta. In a previous post I’ve detailed step-by-step instructions on how to dye spaghetti noodles to make colorful rainbow pasta. Click HERE to check it out!
After making your rainbow pasta, you’ll now want to make the soap clouds!
Simply unwrap your bar of ivory soap and break it into a few smaller pieces. Set one piece of soap on a paper plate and place it in the microwave. Heat for about 60 seconds and watch as the soap expands into a fluffy white cloud. SO COOL!
Now that you have your rainbow pasta and soap clouds, you can add some letter R’s into the bin to help reinforce that R is for Rainbow.
And that’s it! Let the fun begin!
Make It A Game
Try pushing all the letter R’s under the rainbow and have the kids try to find them all!
Sneak In Some Learning
As your child is playing, try asking questions like:
“What letter are we learning about today?”
“What sound does the letter R make?”
“R is for what?…. Rainbow!”
