UNIVERSE SENSORY PLAY IDEAS

Explore the universe with two different universe sensory play ideas. Get started with only a few simple supplies and create hours of hands-on sensory fun for the little ones!

As part of my ongoing series, ABC Sensory, we’ve been exploring a different sensory activity for each letter of the alphabet.  And for today’s letter U sensory play, we’ll be making a Universe sensory bin and Universe slime!  In this post I’ll show you exactly how easy they are to make.  Plus, I created a FREE checklist to help you make your own ABC sensory bins.  Click the link to get access before getting started: FREE Idea Checklist: How To Create ABC Sensory Bins.

Supplies

Directions

To make a Universe Sensory Bin, start by filling your bin with black beans.  Next, simply add gold stars and universe bouncy balls.  And add some letter U’s into the bin to help reinforce that U is for Universe.  And that’s it!

To make Universe Slime, start by reading THIS post which includes step-by-step instructions for making homemade slime.  To turn our slime into “universe” slime, we used red and blue food coloring to make purple.  And then simply added gold stars, universe bouncy balls, and letter U shapes.

And there you have two different universe sensory ideas.  Let the fun begin!

Make It A Game

Try pushing all the letter U’s under the black beans or inside the slime and have the kids try to find them all!

Sneak In Some Learning

As your child is playing, try asking questions like:

“What letter are we learning about today?”

“What sound does the letter U make?”

“U is for what?…. Universe!”
