PILLOWS

Cut two squares of fabric, roughly 7 inches tall x 7 inches wide.

Lay the two squares of fabric face to face (with the printed pattern side touching).

Using thread that’s the same color as your fabric, sew the two squares together about ½ inch in from the edge of the fabric. (I did this by hand, but you could do this with a sewing machine if you’d prefer).

Be sure to leave about a 1 ½ inch gap in your sewing (this is so you can flip your fabric right-side-out.)

It should look like this once it’s been flipped right-side-out.

Now you can fill your pillow with stuffing.

I let my daughter help with this part and she loved it. And really, her smaller hands made it that much easier to push the stuffing inside!

When your pillow is filled, hand-sew the gap closed.

TOOTH POCKET

If you haven’t already, I recommend printing out my free tooth fairy pillow template.

Cut two white teeth shapes out of felt.

SMILE

(*If you are making the bear pillow, you can skip this step) Place one of the white teeth on top of your printed template. Using your black marker, lightly trace along the smile (this is only to serve as a guide when gluing on the real felt smile).

Cut a very thin piece of black felt. And two small round circles (red, or pink).

Using your hot glue gun, glue the thin strip of black felt and two small circles onto the tooth over your lightly traced line.

EYES

Cut two small squares of white felt (about 3/8 inch x 3/8 inch).

Round the edges to turn them into circles. (Alternatively you could use one of the eyes from your template as a guide for cutting out your eyes).

Use a black permanent marker to color in the eyes. Leave a small white circle near the center of the eye.

When you’re finished, set the eyes aside.

PILLOW THEMES

From this point forward, I’ll show you how to proceed making each of the four different tooth fairy pillows (Pirate, Superhero, Ballerina, and Bear). If you’d like to skip ahead to the pattern you are making, feel free to do so!

PIRATE

Using your template cut the pirate bandana out of red felt.

And cut the eye patch out of back felt.

Glue the bandana, eye patch, and one eye onto the tooth.

Now, glue your second, blank tooth onto the center of your pillow.

Place a folded dollar bill where you want the pocket to be.

Glue your pirate tooth to the blank white tooth (careful not to get glue on the dollar bill). Once the glue has dried, remove the dollar bill and there will be a small pocket left behind where you can put your child’s tooth and the tooth fairy gift.

SUPERHERO

Using your template cut the superhero mask out of blue felt. Then glue the mask and eyes onto the tooth.

Now, glue your second, blank tooth onto the center of your pillow.

Place a folded dollar bill where you want the pocket to be.

Glue your superhero tooth to the blank white tooth (careful not to get glue on the dollar bill). Once the glue has dried, remove the dollar bill and there will be a small pocket left behind where you can put your child’s tooth and the tooth fairy gift.

BALLERINA

First, you’ll need to cut 4 small thin strips of black felt about ¼ inch long. Glue two of these to the side of each eye. These will become your ballerina’s eyelashes. (Alternatively you could draw the eyelashes on with black permanent marker).

Cut a small length of pink ribbon to make the bow. (Helpful hint: If you use a lighter and very carefully burn the cut edge of your ribbon, it will not fray).

Using your template cut the two ballerina shoes out of pink felt, and glue them to the tooth.

Next, cut a small length of pink tulle.

Fold it back and fourth in a fan pattern. Cut a thin strip of pink felt to serve as the belt of the dress. Glue the folded pink tulle to the pink belt.

Flip the dress over, and glue it to the tooth.

Now, glue your second, blank tooth onto the center of your pillow.

Then place a folded dollar bill where you want the pocket to be.

Glue your ballerina tooth to the blank white tooth (careful not to get glue on the dollar bill). Once the glue has dried, remove the dollar bill and there will be a small pocket left behind where you can put your child’s tooth and the tooth fairy gift.

BEAR

Using your template cut the bear’s ears out of tan felt.

Cut the bear’s nose out of back felt. And the part surrounding the bear’s nose out of tan felt.

Using a black permanent marker, draw a thin black line around the outer edge of the tan section of the bear’s nose.

Glue the bear’s nose, ears, and eyes to the white tooth.

For this pillow, we will need to cut a dark brown tooth shape, slightly larger than the white tooth. This will serve as an outline so that our white tooth will show up against the white color of the pillow.

Glue the dark brown tooth shape to the center of the pillow.

Then place a folded dollar bill where you want the pocket to be.

Glue your white bear tooth to the dark brown shape (careful not to get glue on the dollar bill). Once the glue has dried, remove the dollar bill and there will be a small pocket left behind where you can put your child’s tooth and the tooth fairy gift.
