Supplies
Colored Card Stock (you will need: light green, dark green, light blue, dark blue, light pink, dark pink, white, black, brown, yellow, and purple)
Printing
If you will be using my Free Printable file, simply print the file (if you’ve used thin paper to print on, I would recommend pasting your print to card stock to make it sturdier) and then cut out each section. Be sure to include the grey boxes below the rainbow and the bushes when cutting, as these will be folded over and used as tabs that attach to the pop-up invitation. Once you’ve finished, you can skip ahead to the “Attaching the Tabs” section below.
Cutting
If you will be using my Free SVG file, (for use with a Cricut cutting machine), start by separating each element and cutting them according to color.
Once you have each piece cut, it should look like this.
Pasting
To make the rainbow you will need these pieces.
Start with the light blue background. Then paste on each color of the rainbow and the clouds. It should look like this when you’re finished.
To make the small layered bush you will need these pieces.
Paste the pieces together to make it look like this.
To make Poppy you will need these pieces.
Paste each of the pieces together. And she should look like this when you’re finished.
To make Branch you will need these pieces.
And once he’s pasted together, he should look like this.
To make the flowers you will need these pieces.
Paste the green leaves behind the flowers and they should look like this when finished.
To make the large layered bush, you will first need to write your invitation details on the piece that looks like this.
Then paste each of the sections together like this.
Creating Tabs
Next, you will need to cut out two small blue rectangles and 4 small green rectangles. These will be used as tabs to attach the pop-up pieces to the invitation.
Fold the rectangle tabs in half to create a crease. Then attach the blue tabs to the back of the rainbow.
And attach the green tabs to the back of the large layered bush and the back of the small layered bush.
Attaching the Tabs
Cut a large rectangle 8.5” x 6” out of white card stock. This will become the outer card for your invitation. Fold the card in half to create a crease along the center and unfold.
Next fold the rainbow, the large layered bush, and the small layered bush in half to create a crease and then unfold.
Near the top of the invitation, paste the tabs of the rainbow to the card in a V shape. Be sure to line up the crease at the center of the rainbow with the crease at the center of the card.
Just in front of the rainbow, paste the small layered bush, along with Poppy and Branch, to the card in a V shape.
It should look like this from the back.
Along the front, bottom edge of the card, paste the tabs of the large bush to the card in a straight line.
Lastly, paste the flowers and the remaining small bushes flat against the card like this.
It should look like this from the side.
