Learn how to make a quicksand sensory bin.  Get started with only 2 simple supplies and create hours of hands-on sensory fun for the little ones!

As part of my ongoing series, ABC Sensory, we’ve been exploring a different sensory activity for each letter of the alphabet.  And for today’s letter Q sensory bin, we’ll be making a Quicksand Sensory Bin!  In this post I’ll show you exactly how easy it is to make.  Plus, I created a FREE checklist to help you along the way.  Click the link to get access before getting started: FREE Idea Checklist: How To Create ABC Sensory Bins.

Supplies

Directions

You’re going to love how easy this quicksand sensory bin is to make!  Start by partially filling your sensory bin with sand.  Next add some shaving cream and mix the two together.  And you’re done!

Add some letter Q’s into the bin to help reinforce that Q is for Quicksand.  You can also add in some other toys like construction vehicles to push the quicksand around and Lego figures to sink into the quicksand.

And that’s it!  Let the fun begin!

Make It A Game

Try pushing all the letter Q’s under the quicksand and have the kids try to find them all!

Sneak In Some Learning

As your child is playing, try asking questions like:

“What letter are we learning about today?”

“What sound does the letter Q make?”

“Q is for what?…. Quicksand!”
